Alberta Box Lacrosse Referee Uniform

The
following should be what first-year officials should have, at a minimum,
as part of their equipment:
- ALRA referee jersey with crest
- Black Slacks - slacks/rugby pants/track suit pants, no tear-aways,
no white showing
- Running shoes - black preferred
- Whistle - Acme Thunder preferred
- No jewelry - necklaces, watches, etc. (Medical Alert bracelets are
acceptable)
- CLA rulebook, ALRA handbook
All referees should aim to have all of the following
in their referee bag - all of the above, plus:
- Extra white game balls
- Extra game sheets
- Extra whistle
- CLA Referee Situation Manual
- 4 or 5 pens (in case the timekeepers do not have one, or for you to
record numbers on penalties)
- String to fix holes in nets
- Measuring tape for stick and goaltender measurements
If you prefer to wear a shirt under your jersey, black is the preferred
color. As well, try to match up with what your partner is wearing so
you look the same going onto the floor.
Referees are not permitted to wear jewelry of any kind on the floor.
The players are required not to wear any jewelry, so it is up to us
to set an example for the players - it will also reduce the chances
of injury when breaking up altercations, etc. while on the floor.
Where can I get the equipment I need?
Your referee shirt and pants can both be purchased directly from the ALRA. Most of the other equipment you will need you should be able to locate at any major sports store.
